THANET TO LEAD ON GREEN TOURISM?

Today's Observer has an article questioning how green a €1 billion developement in Greece is claiming to be
"the first 100% emission free resort in the world".
Slight problem is the need to fly/drive there and the Observer has juxtaposed this with a beautiful photo by Rod Edwards of an empty Margate beach. This is the sort of image Thanet should be projecting so let's hope there is more of this, and less airshows and quad bikes in future years.

  1. Agreed. Have a look at TransitionTowns.org for a very interesting view of the future: we know the oil's going to run out, so get ready now; and we know climate change is going to worsen, so get ready now (again).

Thanet as a Transition Island - well worth the effort.

  3. Same planet, same country, same county. What benefits you, benefits me. What hurts you, hurts me. Which is why I wish you well.

  4. Trouble is green folk spend less money when on holiday. Perhaps we should attract the SUV brigade to help the local economy
