THANET'S TORIES MRS. THATCHER?

In politics it is always dangerous to have opponents commenting on internal matters. This post is based on information from a normally reliable source, but it is a little speculative. At present there are many Thanet Tories who are unhappy with Cllr. Sandy Ezekiel's leadership, with his Standards appearances a particular concern. Some of my Labour colleagues have started calling them the decent and indecent Tories. Decent Tories when you are alone with them, will say how embarassed they are to be associated with the regrettable behaviour of Leader Sandy Ezekiel and his Deputy Leader Roger Latchford.

Indecent Tories are unwise and shameless. Loyal no matter what happens, putting Party (and sometimes their personal position) before the reputation of Thanet. Indecent Tories always gives me the thought of naked Tories, which indecent Conservative councillor would you least like to see naked? OK Labour is not that well endowed, let's not go there. Thoughts you'd rather not have! Still perhaps it could be a tourism initiative. I saw this naturist beach is closing in Suffolk. Perhaps the indecent Tories could expose themselves on one of Thanet's beaches to start a new naturist tourist initiative to fill this gap in the market? It would be good to see a green tourism initiative. Can Thanet open for business before anyone else spots this gap in the market? I wonder if there would be any declarations of interest at the Planning meeting?
Which brings me to my mole's information. At a special meeting of Tory conspirators held in Thanet recently, it was decided that Cllr. Jo Gideon (pictured) will challenge Sandy Ezekiel at Thanet Conservative councillors Annual General Meeting this week. With it being 30 years since Mrs. Thatcher won power, those present were reminded that as Mrs. Thatcher said of her deputy "everybody needs a Willie" Whitelaw. With no Willie available, Wellsy (Cllr. Chris Wells) will be the Deputy Leadership candidate I am told.
If you are watching the Chelsea v Barcelona match tomorrow evening, the real battle of the Blues will be going on in Thanet. May the most decent Tory win!

  1. Mark, it is likely to be an interesting 24hrs. I find it strange that you are commenting at this stage. The best position for Labour is possibly that Sandy Ezekiel is kept in post as he is the best recruiter for Labour votes in Thanet at the moment?
I just wish your Conservative Councillor colleagues wisdom and a wise decision tomorrow night and we might then see a new political scene in Thanet with more co-operation between Councillors from both major parties working together for the benefit of Thanet rather than what seems to be a constant cycle of friction.

  2. Bertie I have consistently argued that Sandy Ezekiel's repeated misconduct is unacceptable. I think the best interests of Thanet are more important than seeking narrow party advantage. I don't know any of my Labour colleagues who believe it would be a good thing for him to continue as Leader.

  3. I am glad to hear that Mark and it bodes well for the future. The next question that comes to mind should Cllr Ezekiel survive tomorrow evenings deliberations by Conservative Councillors and then continue in 'office' is whether the Labour Group would be prepared to move a vote of 'no confidence' in the present Leadership at the next opportunity to do so? That would certainly test principles amomg Conservative Councillors in regard to misplaced loyalty and 'my Leader right or wrong'.

  4. Oh Mark,

Typing with your fingers crossed behind your back is a wonderful skill. Do they teach it at Labour party training courses?

  6. I wish all good Conservative Councillors luck tonight. I will be keeping my fingers crossed in the hope that eventually our local mafia will be deselected.

  7. And what of Gordon Brown's supporters? Having destroyed our country's economy, made our once great and proud nation a laughing stock in the world, supported nasty people blogging at No.10, and been spiteful to men who have been prepared to lay down their life to support our causes, I don't think Gordon's supporters have much to be proud of. Does this mean that they are indecent Labour? Are you a Gordon Brown supporter? Are you indecent Labour?

  9. Chris commiserations thank you for trying. Anon 17.26 as so often the Conservative line is to change the subject, and to remain anonymous as there is so much locally to remain anonymous about.
Montgomory, another poster too embarassed to give their name to their support for Sandy Ezekiel. Why is that?

Thank you for giving the job of your local leader to Clive, perhaps, after the Elections, when Labour have NO district Councils , he will do what Gordon Brown will do and fall upon his own sword with honour?

  11. Ah Monty I'm proud to have Clive as my leader, and you're unable to say anything positive in public about Sandy....
