AIRCRAFT WORKING PARTY MEETS - NO PUBLIC PRESENT

Earlier this evening I was at Thanet Council's Airport Working Party. We discussed recent developments and agreed to meet with representatives from the Airport, Kent International Airport Consultative Committee and to have a public meeting. Tonight's meeting will be reported to Overview and Scrutiny Panel on 10th March.

The meeting was open to the public, but nobody was there, no press, no public, no interest? I don't think so. As my colleague Cllr. John Watkins (pictured) pointed out the only place he was aware the meeting was advertised was tucked away in a remote corner of Thanet Council's website. Click here.
An unfortunate oversight, so next time we will issue a press release and I'll try and remember to mention it here too. All members of the committee want to meet and hear all the different local opinions so please comment, email or turn up at the meeting.

  1. Obviously by timing it for a Friday evening when most Thanet people go out, or when most men would have been watching the rugby they were hoping to be able to claim no-one is interested. This is not the first time this sort of subterfuge has been used by TDC.

  2. We live in a banana republic in Thanet. TDC control the agenda and to hell with the fools who pay their wages - Us.

Mark, can you put notices on your blog and let the other bloggers help to distribute the info onwards.

    Good work.

  3. TDC is a total disgrace. The government needs to sack the lot of them and put the Council in special measures. On the other hand, there are 54 Councillors and I bet some of them think they are capable. Well, prove it to us then. Show us that you can run the Council properly. Of course, to do that you'll have to stand up to the twits who are running it at the moment (and this includes individuals from both parties). I defy the many silent and supine Councillors to raise their voices and start representing people properly.
